What Are Dental Crowns and Bridges?

Dental Crowns are custom-made caps that cover and protect a damaged, decayed, or weakened tooth. They restore the tooth’s shape, size, strength, and appearance, allowing you to bite and chew with confidence.

Dental Bridges are fixed prosthetic devices used to replace one or more missing teeth. They consist of artificial teeth (pontics) anchored by crowns on the adjacent natural teeth or implants. Bridges fill the gap left by missing teeth, preventing surrounding teeth from shifting out of position.

Benefits of Crowns and Bridges

  • Restore Functionality: Improve your ability to chew and speak properly.
  • Enhance Aesthetics: Designed to match the color and shape of your natural teeth for a seamless appearance.
  • Protect Oral Health: Prevent remaining teeth from drifting, reducing the risk of bite problems and gum disease.
  • Durable Solutions: Made from high-quality materials for long-lasting results.

What To Expect

During Your Crown or Bridge Procedure

Our team at Manson & Chi Dentistry is committed to making your treatment comfortable and efficient. Here’s an overview of the process:

No.1

Comprehensive Examination & Treatment Planning

We begin with a thorough dental examination to assess your oral health and determine the most appropriate treatment. This may include digital X-rays and the use of our iTero® Element Scanner to capture detailed images of your teeth and gums. Our Kirkland dentists will discuss your options and develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

No.2

Tooth Preparation & Impression

For a dental crown, the affected tooth is prepared by removing a small amount of enamel to make room for the crown. For a dental bridge, the adjacent teeth (abutment teeth) are prepared in a similar manner to support the bridge. We then take precise digital impressions using the iTero® Element Scanner, eliminating the need for messy traditional molds. This technology ensures a highly accurate fit for your crown or bridge.

No.3

Temporary Restoration & Custom Fabrication

A temporary crown or bridge may be placed to protect your teeth while the permanent restoration is being fabricated in a dental laboratory. This temporary piece allows you to maintain normal function and appearance during this period. Once your custom crown or bridge is ready, you’ll return to our office for fitting and placement. We will remove the temporary restoration and check the fit and color of the new crown or bridge.

With proper care, dental crowns and bridges can last between 10 to 15 years or longer. Maintaining good oral hygiene and regular dental visits will help extend the life of your restorations.

Our crowns and bridges are custom-made to match the color, shape, and size of your natural teeth, making them virtually indistinguishable from your surrounding teeth.
